About

I don’t have any particular qualifications to start a site like this other than I am a sinner. I was fortunate to have a loving family growing up and in the Catholic faith receiving all the education and sacraments, given every advantage to care for my soul and the world around me. And even still, growing up in the 70’s and 80’s, getting absorbed into the culture of MTV and its hedonistic allures was a smooth wide laned highway to destruction. And then add to that a Navy military commitment and deployment where Sunday’s were just another day and expletives are the native language, all adds up to a recipe for a lost soul.
It is very easy to rationalize our lives into believing “oh I have time to straighten up my act” and “I am basically a good person underneath it all”. Then one day you wake up and realize you can’t remember the last time you made it to church “oh wait it was Christmas I think” or got on your knees to pray for mercy and repentance. Those days arrived for me in rapid succession in 2006 when I found myself in county lock-up for a week on multiple drug felony charges, and a major heart attack and open heart surgery 3 weeks later. Even all THAT was still not enough to wake me up!
You probably get the picture. Maybe your story is similar. Maybe it is completely different. It doesn’t matter. My journey back to being a true disciple of Jesus is a work in progress. We are all in different places and stations of life and in our journey. The most helpful things to me have been other people sharing their experiences, stories, prayers, sorrows, joys, failures and successes and everything in between. If one person finds something useful here in their journey, it will make it all worthwhile.
